Scott Rand, M.D.

Scott Rand, M.D.SCOTT RAND, M.D. is the program director for the sports medicine fellowship and senior physician at the Lone Star Sports Medicine Clinic. He graduated from the University of South Dakota School of Medicine in 1989 and did his family medicine training at the Naval Hospital in Pensacola, FL. He spent 3 years overseas on the NATO base in Keflavik, Iceland after completing his residency. He then spent 5 years in private practice in Vermillion, SD where he was the team physician for the University of South Dakota and area high schools.

He is board certified in Family Medicine and has a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine. He has lived in the Tomball area for the past 6 years and currently lives outside of Magnolia, TX. Dr. Rand has been the local team physician for the USA gymnastics team since 2002 and is currently the team physician for Spring ISD. His research interests include mild traumatic brain injury evaluation and treatment and pre-participation evaluation. He is married and has 2 grown children.

  • Published in American Family Physician, Family Practice Management, and Journal of American Board of Family Medicine.
  • Special Interests: Sports Medicine, Procedures, Concussion Management, Computer applications in medicine.
  • Faculty of the Year award, 2002.
  • Member AMSSM, ACSM.
  • Consulting team physician for 14 area high schools, Prairie View A&M University and Local team physician for USA Gymnastics.
  • Lectures frequently to community sports organizations.
  • Writes a biweekly column on sports medicine issues for the local newspaper
