Curriculum:
The schedule for the fellow is designed to give a broad based experience in all aspects of Sports Medicine. The curriculum includes:
- A. 3 – 12 week blocks with orthopedic surgery.
- 1 4 week block of musculoskeletal radiology
- 1 4 week block of Sports PM&R
- 8 weeks of elective time
- Electives include
- Cardiology
- Neuropsychology
- Anesthesia
- Ski Trauma at Park City Utah
- Other electives available depending on the desires of the Fellow
- ½ day per week dedicated to research. The fellow is expected to produce research acceptable for presentation at the AMSSM national meeting in April each year
- ½ day per week in physical therapy.
- ½ day per week training room
- Sideline coverage of 1-2 football games every weekend during football season
- Coverage of a national girls youth soccer tournament with over 300 teams.
- Monthly grand rounds and monthly journal club for sports medicine
- ½ day per week continuity clinic in Family Medicine at the community health center in Conroe.
Certain aspects of the curriculum are presented longitudinally throughout your training such as behavioral science, community medicine, practice management, and legal issues in medicine. There are also multiple elective opportunities available.
