The Conroe Medical Education Foundation Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship began in 2006.
This 1 year accredited fellowship program is sponsored by the Tomball Regional Medical Center and is located at the Texas Sports Medicine Center in Tomball Texas.
We focus on all aspects of sports medicine and the fellow will gain experience in treating athletes of all skill levels and all age groups. Some of the highlights of the training program include:
- Orthopedic specialty rotations are scheduled in 12 week blocks to allow the fellow to follow athletes from initial injury through surgery and rehabilitation. This allows for a better understanding of the natural history of many orthopedic injuries.
- Dedicated musculoskeletal radiology rotation
- Groups cared for include:
- 14 area high schools with over 8000 total athletes
- Male and Female club soccer with over 2000 athletes
- Prairie View A&M University
- USA Gymnastics
- Concussion management with neuropsychological testing used for return to play recommendations
- Monthly Sports Medicine Grand Rounds and Journal Club with accredited CME for area physicians
- This is an unopposed fellowship. You do not share responsibility for the athletes you care for with other specialties, residents, or programs
- The program pays for 2 conferences per year. The AMSSM fellows research conference in August and the National AMSSM meeting in April, where the fellow presents their research project.
- $2500 moving allowance
